Your visitor records will also stay valid. For those applying for a new work or study permit, upon approval, we will automatically provide you with a visa or an eTA (based on eligibility). There’s no need for a separate application for a visa or eTA.

Dual Citizens: Canadian-Mexican citizens need a valid Canadian passport, while lawful permanent residents of the United States don’t require a visa or eTA.

As we navigate the evolving landscape of travel requirements, it is crucial for Mexican citizens planning a visit to Canada to stay informed about the latest changes effective February 29, 2024. Whether securing a new Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or obtaining a visitor visa for alternative modes of travel, careful adherence to these regulations ensures a seamless and compliant journey.

Remember, the cancellation of existing eTAs necessitates timely action. For those already in Canada, understanding the implications and acquiring the appropriate authorizations for re-entry is vital.
